Peter Scheuermann, Ph.D.

Dr. Scheuermann is Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Northwestern University. He was Program Chair for IEEE Symposium on Network Computing and Applications (NCA11), Program Co-Chair for ACM-GIS 2009 International Conference on Advances in Geographic Information Systems, General Co-Chair for MDM 2009 International Conference on Mobile Data Management, Vice General Chair for 2006 ACM-SIGMOD International Conference on Management of Data, General Chair for 22nd International Conference on Conceptual Modeling, Program Co-Chair for NSF Workshop on Infrastructure for Mobile and Wireless Systems, and Program Co-Chair for Fifth IFCIS International Conference on Cooperative Information Systems.
Dr. Scheuermann’s current research interests include: physical database design, parallel I/O systems, distributed and federated database systems, web caching and replication, data mining, and mobile computing.
Dr. Scheuermann serves on the editorial board of IEEE Transactions of Data and Knowledge Engineering, and is a Fellow of IEEE and Fellow of AAAS. He also served as Program Director for Operating Systems and Compilers at National Science Foundation, CISE Directorate from 1997 to 1998.
Dr. Scheuermann holds a Ph.D. degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
